Ownby was lit that night, eager for winning football. That season ended with a thud in the standings and the team was obviously outmatched in the SWC, but Gregg and the boys brought it back with honor and effort.

Great night to be a Mustang!

I was at the game and was one of the dots in the sparsely populated bleachers in the opposite end zone. Good times!

I missed that game at Ownby.

I also miss my hair from the 1980s.

GREAT reminder of what fan support can do. Bring on the fur-dogs.

I'm pretty sure the last seconds and subsequent celebration was replayed in the stadium the last time UCONN rolled in. Those were some tough times at Ownby though.

SMU should always place this game in throw backs.

How many of you purchased the Cornerstone tickets? The foundation of football was this package of 5 years of season tickets. All up front. That is where I began. 5 years after graduation.

I can totally remember yelling and jumping up and down. I remember that pass as being more like a shot putt... but right on target!!! SWEET!

Based on the camerawork that appears to be a local news crew on the sideline, I assume that this game was not televised. I don't think I have ever seen a press box angle of that final play...

Did you have the plastic color screen for your B&W TV? $1.95 for your 17" model.

You know there was a cartoon show when I was very young where you did put a plastic sheet on the TV screen and when the cartoon hero would need help, such as getting across a large chasm, you drew a line, with a special crayon, like a bridge, so he could run across.
