Applewhite blew it punting on 4th and 1. Once they got to second and 1, you decide at that point if you are going to go for it, and if you want to run the ball, put their wildcat QB in there and give it three tries.

1st and 10 at HOU 32
(4:30 - 4th) Dillon Birden run for 9 yds to the Houst 41
2nd and 1 at HOU 41
(4:20 - 4th) Dillon Birden run for no gain to the Houst 41
3rd and 1 at HOU 41
(3:46 - 4th) Duke Catalon run for no gain to the Houst 41

Applewhite ran 8 of the last 9 plays in the TD drive before this drive. I believe Applewhite is a big run guy to run clock. Maybe he'd have thrown it on 4th and 1 to mix things up or he'd have tried running it again. Memphis started on their own 20 after the punt. Can't a team stop someone? If he'd have gone for it on his own 41 and not converted, he's basically conceding a tie and making it much easier to win. Seems like the second half came down to conditioning and adjustments. Not sure why we beat SMU and Arizona.

We're not sure either....(sarcasm alert)

It might have been the karmic revenge because of the Timeout Hex on the Memphis PK at the half...which was both legal and well-played...

Birden broke or separated something in his arm on that 2nd Down play. Walked straight to the locker room. And Catalon had a bruised shoulder-he actually missed about half the game in the locker room himself -came back in only when Birden went to locker room. Not sure if you want to run it on 4th and 1 if you don't have a healthy back-but anyway there was more to the story

Good points. I forgot Birden was hurt on that series. Fans are knocking Major for not going for it. It's not like we were down by three. Beat Cincy!

Iowa St at Texas Tech will be an interesting game. Big game for both teams. Iowa St. leads 7-6

Ark St. looking good in the Sun. Have scored 36 (Nebr), 48, 21 (SMU), 43, 51, 47 for 4-2 record. North Texas also 4-2 having beaten UTSA last week in CUSA, lost to SMU and IOWA.
