Hicks haters -- explain yourselfModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Hicks haters -- explain yourselfThis is painful to read. The level of either willful ignorance or pure stupid is exceptional.
Stallion is posting stats to show improvement. In similar situations last season, Hicks was more prone to throw picks and go 4 and out with no points. This season he is improving in both areas. No one is saying he is the savior. Hell, there are two QBs regarded as dual threat practicing for a coaching staff that's looking for that dual threat qb like Watson and neither has given them a reason to play. The inability to see the growth from those info shows the bias or willful blinders people place on themselves when watching. I'd love to see Hicks play better (stop locking in two receivers) or be replaced. But someone has up beat him out in practice first and against conference opposition, the DB's and LB's might actually have to show up and play. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Hicks haters -- explain yourselfBirth control aka the uterus's big gun.
Re: Hicks haters -- explain yourselfI thought the object was to score, not a bunch of foreplay (empty yards).
If it helps the discussion, Gillins has been injured and could hardly walk coming onto the field in Houston. Peavy must not have the coaches confidence. We lost our last two QB recruits in the waning weeks in two successive recruiting classes. All we seem to be after this year are "projects". There is no one available to come in and challenge Hicks, now or in the future. Just about every quarterback we've played is ranked higher than Hicks, look up the national rankings. NTU, ASU, UConn, TCU (of course), and UH. Hicks has improved, he made a ton of drives and strung together plenty of first downs, but something happens when he get within the 35 yard line of the end zone. Forget red zone, its that far when he seems to fail. He locks on to one of the same two receivers and throws into coverage. Overthrowing in the red zone, interceptions in the red zone and playing against better QB's only makes the perception worse. Having no one available to replace him is our coaching staffs fault!
Re: Hicks haters -- explain yourselfthe one thing that i haven't seen come up in this whole debate is the recruiting perspective. first off, i dont think hicks should be benched. but if you ARE advocating to pull him, how on earth do you think that would play in recruiting circles if hicks was at the helm of the "most explosive offense in the country", cutting down on turnovers, improving (albeit very gradually) across the board, has had no meltdowns... and then he gets benched for someone who transferred in and has zero live action on film? if you're another school in texas, you dream of having ammo like that to use against the guy who groomed deshaun watson. you HAVE to let Hicks play until something goes terribly wrong. and there's no indication of that happening.

Re: Hicks haters -- explain yourselfThe ammunition Chad Morris wants out of this year is to tell recruits that SMU has a Top 10 Offense in the Country. He has mentioned it several time. Right now we a 13th in Total Offense and 4th in First Downs. Don't kid yourself-that kind of tangible evidence of improvement will help and excite recruits-the Baylor Effect

Re: Hicks haters -- explain yourself
Kyle Allen was rated higher, but he didn't play. I doubt Kyle Postma was rated higher than anyone

yep.... C-ya @ Milos!
Re: Hicks haters -- explain yourself
The flip side of that argument is that most stud QBs want to come in and have a chance to play immediately. If they see Hicks as solidly entrenched for the next 2 years, they know they are looking at a RS year and a FR season of carrying the clipboard. A true stud who wants to play immediately looks at his supporting cast, coaching staff and is confident HE will be running the offense. Our big hurdle in recruiting is the painfully obvious lack of enthusiasm among our students & alumni for our football program...and then of course there is the G5 conference issue, but that hasn't stopped some of our conference foes in landing some stud QBs through the years. UCF and Memphis have both had QBs drafted in recent years...might be others I'm forgetting.
