RBeast PositionOur 3 headed Running Back Trio has gained 1,079 yards on the season and is averaging 5.89 yards per carry. This would make it the 3rd most prolific rusher in the NCAA through 7 weeks. I say we feed the RBeast position early and often against Cincy who is giving up an average 220 yards per game. We do this and Sutton, Quinn and Proche will be open later on and Hicks will have plenty of time to find them off of the play-action (not rolling out).

Re: RBeast Positionthat sounds like a plan-4 of Hicks 5 Interceptions have come in the 4th Q when trailing by more than about 10 points. We don't want to put him in the position of having to force big plays in passing game. That's why those missed kicking points hurt last week because it forced us to rely too heavily on the passing game late in the game and not balance the offense by utilizing the running threat due to 2 possession deficit. That will keep SMU from passing into 8-9 man flooded secondaries

Re: RBeast Position
Absolutely....we got unbalanced last week and forced Hicks into a tough situation. Also allowed their D-Line to tee off and not respect the run. I don't ever want to see any more missed PAT's or chip shot field goals or we need to find another kicker. #1 Day At A Time
Re: RBeast PositionTotally agree. Establish the run early, and there will be room for Hicks to pick apart the secondary.
That's pretty cliche, I know, but in years past we tried it and didn't have the RBs to do it — now we do. Go Ponies. "What kind of weirdo school are they running over there in Fort Worth?"
