Postby PonyTime » Mon Oct 30, 2017 9:58 am

Had we held on vs. TCU we would have been in 1st place and ranked in top 25...

7-1 TCU
6-2 SMU
5-3 Houston
5-3 Texas A&M
4-4 Texas
4-4 Texas Tech
3-5 Arkansas
1-7 Rice
0-8 Baylor

Um, we would most likely be 2 - 6 if we had to play conf games against the old SWC foes vs. AAC.

You really think we would lose to Rice and Baylor?

For that matter, Texas Tech?

Did you see what TCU did to Arkansas on the road vs SMU at home?

I don't think so, but good try.

Did you see what Tech did to Houston in Houston?

I am not at all convinced that this edition of SMU football could not beat Tech.

Those who have been around for a while know that Arkansas would no longer schedule us in football because we kept beating them when we weren't supposed to do so.

I don't know if we would but I am pretty sure we could.

I watch Tech every week - paying tuition for my son - and was in Norman this past weekend. We could not stop their run (it took a while for OU to figure it out) and their passing game would expose our secondary.

I appreciate your passion but all you are really pointing out is - compared to our old SWC foes, we have the second best record currently. Means something if you want a comparison of bowl eligibility, but you cannot infer we would be at or near the top of a reinstated SWC or in the top 25 - if so wouldn't we be in the Top 25 now?

Using your methods, we would be tied for 3rd or 4th place in each of the current P5 conferences and in 4th place in the American - which is where we actually are - and not in the Top 25.

Like it or not - this team is a couple of idiotic plays in the TCU game away from 7-1 and top 25 ranking.

Guess we will see how good we are on Saturday when they host a top 15 team at Ford...

This team is also a couple of idiotic plays (by Tulsa and Cincy) from 4-4 and a tie for last place in the AAC West.
