That's a start but why not expand it to 18 and under? I remember taking our kids to watch SMU vs UT-Chattanooga bball game years ago and "kids 18 and under were $1". That was a nice surprise, but of course we did not travel to that game because of discount tickets for the kids. I do think it helped attract some locals for UTC.

Wanna build the next generation of SMU fans? This is the way.

First SMU game was Navy-SMU back in 1963. SMU won. Fan for life.

I'm not sure you can do that under NCAA rules--because of the recruitable athlete rule. Example: when SMU has a signing date affair nobody in high school or above 9th grade is allowed in. There are NCAA rules relating to visits by high school prospects but they have to be followed in order to be given a ticket-like sign-in etc.

Same defense as UNC used inn the academic fraud matter...free tickets are open to EVERY kid 18 and under...not just prospective student athletes.

Anyone with info how they are distributing these tickets? My boys were wanting to take some buddies.

Show up - Bring the kids "proof to carry license" and that has their birthdate on it.!
Bring all the 12 and unders you can round up.

MAKE SMU GREAT AGAIN.

Every high school student (it may actually be 8th grade and above) is considered a ‘recruitable prospect’ and therefore a free ticket would be an impermissible benefit.

Simple solution...give the tickets away free to anyone who wants one, regardless of age at Milo's, Burger House, Kuby's, Campisi's, Kohl's, etc.

Once again, you can't do that and not be guilty of ncaa infractions.

My kid was a ball boy for the SMU soccer NCAA tourney game vs. Central Arkansas. They specifically recruited '04 birthdays. I figured it was because they are 7th and 8th graders so they're the most mature and yet not high schoolers. 12 and under is still a huge group. The south endzone will be rocking.
