well then if you don't have the cash don't fire the coach. it is VERY hard to tell a coach he is responsible for the results, but by the way here is your key coaching team - and oh yeah....they weren't successful under the last guy.

I see no problem in keeping them for now. When you make your new hire you let him decide if he wants any of the holdovers. If not, you pay the buyout and move on. If any of the assistants want to go somewhere sooner, you have saved the buyout. Sounds like smart business to me.

Hiring a coach who has not put together a coaching staff in 10 years may also have been a reason. It will be interesting to see if Herm keeps anyone.
