Apparently it's a done deal.

Congrats to Chad. I understand and wish him the best.

You think they will give us the opportunity to pay double for our bowl game tickets? The excitement around the program calls for it.

Put me down for Todd Graham or Kevin Sumlin. Either will keep this thing going.

Sumlin or possibly Venables. I hope our AD has been busy on the phone lining up prospective coaches instead of spending his time trying to figure out how he can screw the faithful bball fans on the reseating.

We don’t want Sumlin or Graham.... not because they can’t coach but because they would have one foot out the door at all tim s. They would be seriously depressed going from 80,000+ fans to the 20,000 SMU faithful. Better to get another up and comer who will work hard to prove themselves.
But who ever it is..... let’s get the show on the road and hire him.

Sounds like a job for Frank Wilson.

Why not get an old washed up retread. He would stay here forever.

When was the last time we hired an established HC? 30 years ago? (.when we gave Gregg a bunch of Freshmen)

do we want a coach like Sumlin who is known and has recruiting ties or do we want an 'unknown' who would be a total question mark? I don't want us to take a step back from Morris and most of his staff.

We would be lucky to land Sumlin. I don't think we have any chance of doing so though.

agree- doubt if he would have any interest. sadly most of the better coaches have already moved so we are left with very little to choose from.

I doubt Sumlin goes anywhere like SMU. He is being paid gazillions by aTm to sit around and do nothing. Why would he come to SMU to have to try harder than he ever did at aTm to field a decent team, only to see 6,000 people in the stands for less money?

I'm pretty sure UCF fell through with him b/c of the money realities involving Sumlin.

Wouldn’t we have to negotiate with A&M on the buyout. Doubt we would have the budget. We need to find a strong recruiter first before anything.

I don't have a lot of confidence in:

“We’re gonna get it turned around. We are. There’s a commitment from the university to get this thing turned around. … This has been a tough one on a lot of coaches, and June had it — he was so close. I’m from this state. I’m not gonna let this thing drag me down. We’re gonna get it right.”

"I hope that in the not-too-distant future, you and I will do an article about one of the greatest turnarounds in the history of college football,"

Got the offense at least...
