How quickly does SMU need to hire a coach?

Postby Rebel10 » Thu Dec 07, 2017 1:59 pm

How quickly does SMU need to hire a coach? He needs the time to get here so he can evaluate the commitments to see who he wants to keep and ones he wants to pull offers and replace with his own recruits.

If he sees some players that do not fit his system that are currently committed to SMU it would be unfair to the player and to the coach if he were forced to sign them imo.

I don't care who it is; if we name a coach that quickly my opinion of Rick Hart will go way up.

Ok, maybe I'll care who it is a little bit.

48 hours would be getting it done especially if he is a quality hire.

I expect this weekend, if we can land Todd Orlando or an outside hire it should be sometime this weekend, wich would be the
8-10 of December. but if those outside candidates fall through we will probably just promote traylor and it will probably be sometime next week (11-15)

Would like to see that time table to give the new coach a chance to lock down some of this class in the early signing date

Traylor is on board and apparently a great recruiter. He can hold the team together, maintain most of the commits and has the energy needed. Hire him and let him grow and he will stick around.

Why was Traylor at the Morris presser in Fayetteville today?

I would be happy to promote Traylor to OC but would be sorely disappointed if he is named head coach.

What makes you think he will stay?

We needed a new coach agreement before the old guy announced he is a pig.

If we had someone hired by tomorrow, I would be pleased....with the timing at least. As to who the coach is, that's another story.
