Not if he gets "the best defensive coordinator in all of college football" like he promised the Pigs.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Just watch to see what he can do recruiting higher caliber defensive players. Offense will lead, but I would expect his defense will be strong enough to compete for SEC championships within about 3-4 years

Guess Venables doesn't really want to coach his son or his son really wants to go to Arkansas instead of Clemson?

Jake made an unofficial visit to SMU when Chad Morris was here--and Jake Venables is living in Chad Morris' old home at Clemson.

Venables won’t be a head coach anytime soon. Makes Norvell look like the Pope

Personally, I hope he crashes and burns (but I'm an a-hole).

I can also see a scenario where he does amazingly well and, since Jones loves him, he then goes on to coach the boys down the road.

Me too. He did his job at SMU, nothing more. Basically what you would expect of the highest paid G5 coach. Nothing exceptional and his Baylor antics, where he proclaimed mission accomplished, were costly.
Glad he's a hog. Hope the next coach is an over achiever.
