You could insert Jones or Morris and the AAC into that report and it would read the same.

In the announcement of his firing, they never stated, he didn't turn around the program both academically (APR restrictions) nor on the field. Cal seldom beats UCLA, USC or Stanford so we shouldn't use that as the standard. The key is the staff. If he hires right, there isn't any on the job training that needs to take place, which we just lived through and would with most the other available choices.

Sounds like SonnyD did not want to be in California and was trying to get out by all means necessary. I don't blame him for that. If he is a Texas guy then presumably he wants to be in Texas. SMU allows for that. If a "P5" opens up then he probably tries to bolt just as anyone in their right mind would likely do. While this whole "G5" carve out exists we are doomed to be a stepping stone to "a better conference".
