Arkansas Assistants Coaching Frisco Bowl

Postby smumustang1980 » Mon Dec 11, 2017 2:06 am

The former SMU Assistant who turnedcoat to Arkansas with Chad Morris, and then poached our recruits this weekend for the Razorbacks, will be coaching the Mustangs as an assistant for the bowl game in Frisco.

Has SMU no sense of dignity, no honor?

Have any of you seen Chad's tweets boasting of turning our recruits? They are over the top.

Here's what the Assistant revealed on Twitter this evening:

Replying to @SMUMustangAlum @Red_Sauce4Life @RazorbackFB
Actually I have all of those traits. I’m staying to coach through the bowl. I love my players and would do anything in the world for them bud. Thanks for the support the last 3 years we appreciate it.

this is unbelievable. if true then it probably indicates that traylor is gone. IMO it would have been better to have Ramon Flanagan coach the team instead of a scumbag pirate who is probably only there so he can try anD poach more of our players.

HART SHOULD BE FIRED FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If Dykes is SMU's next HC, I'm going to assume Traylor becomes the Hogs RB coach

I agree that I would rather have Ramon Flanigan as interim HC. At least he has been an OC at the FBS level. At this point why give these guys the platform to try and poach our players. I am ok with Quinn going pro, but I would be really upset if he goes to Arkansas.

one can understand poaching recruits but I haven't heard about a lot of coaches trying to poach existing players. We are seeing what cm and his staff are really like. wonder if they are trying to poach hicks as well. haha.

After seeing all the recruiting tweets, and #wps #hammerdown references, this is beyond bizarre. Are we lending them coach shirts?

Serious question...do we get to invite a certain number of recruits to the Bowl game and give tickets from SMU?

If so, are they just going to invite all of the future dallas-area Arkansas recruits to the SMU game to see their future coaches in action?

Agreed. And all the adulation all these SMU supporters have given him...made me sick. His great work...that just came to fruition this season...is on the verge of collapsing with his fast departure. His time might have become a massive waste...

Isn't Frost still coaching the UCF bowl game? Therefore, not unprecedented. I would think the players are happier with Traylor/Stepp et. al. Meanwhile, Dykes can get busy on the road/phones to recruits.

If you make the right hire, it won't be a waste of time. Don't blame coaches and staff that leave for better opportunities and "steal" recruits away. That's part of the industry whether we like it or not. Heck I've heard in financial services (financial advisors), if they think about going somewhere else and their current employer gets a whiff. They will fire, escort him/her via security, and have a staff quickly call all his client to let them know that he/she is no longer with the company but they can put them in touch with their top advisor asap. Cut throat. Same for college football in some aspects except at SMU because we don't have the financial resource or staff to be that way. I really wish Rick had his short list, shorter, and had already made an announcement. Now, that reports say it's Dykes, I'm basically giving up on this and just going to support basketball.

The problem is that Dykes needs to get on the phones to CURRENT PLAYERS that are playing in the bowl game who are being lured to Arkansas...

At this point, if Dykes named the coach tomorrow, they should let him coach the bowl game. Perhaps he knows more about La Tech than the Arkansas assistant coaches who are likely not putting in the prep for the game that they normally would for a game against Memphis or Navy.

Dykes can just let Hicks call the offensive plays from the huddle.

Where is anything being said about them recruiting current players to Ark? I doubt that is happening...

Right now there is just speculation regarding Coach Stepp's dinner with Trey Quinn last night
Chatter on Ark boards about possibility of Grad Transfer immediate eligibility. Arky Fans are very excited about this prospect and I would not put it past Morris to pull it off.
