Coordinators

Postby gostangs » Wed Dec 20, 2017 10:52 am

When should we expect coordinator announcements? Seems like that could happen pretty soon after this week. Anyone have better scoop on that?

Hope they get some guys that recruit in their sleep (as opposed to recruiting while sleeping like he who wont be named).

Assume Coordinators are currently working for another school at this point, perhaps one at a bowl. It may not happen until after the bowl season. Also, don't expect coordinators to be key recruiters but closers much like the HC. Hoping that all of the coaches get named quickly so that recruiting can begin once the bowl season is over. So far, even with a short staff, Coach Dykes seems to be pulling in new blood. We may lose some the commits from this class, however it seems he is getting JC"s and some new recruits as we read this.

NCAA limits the number of assistants to 10. We still employ all the previous coaches except the offensive coaches that left with Chad.

So, we can hire 3 assistants (to replace the 3 that left with Chad) until after the bowl when - presumably - the previous staff will be dismissed and we can then begin hiring.

Presumably, SD has his assistants lined up and ready to go.

I think Sonny *wants* to lose some recruits from this class. All about fit to system.

Agreed! The only one so far that we aren't getting, that I really wanted was Tre Allison (but maybe Denbow is better anyway who knows). The other one I really wanted was Kemon Smith and it sounds like he's bought in already so there's that.

Love that he's getting jucos. Once the DC comes in, I hope we land 2-3 big DTs and a CB or 2.

Bump... what's taking Sonny so long to find coordinators? I would imagine this can't look good to recruits if the coach can't get guys on board yet. Are we getting declined or something?

I'm sure a lot has to do with the bowl games.

Sonny is a class act and will wait until teams have played their bowl games before announcing their assistant coach is leaving.
Just send 'da money.

The longer he waits the higher on the food chain the coaches probably are.

Gary Patterson's TCU team plays in the Alamo Bowl tonight. Did he get GP to come be his DC?

Patterson has eaten more on the food chain than we could dream of getting.

Don’t be shocked if the DC is one of GP’s guys.

That poor, poor towel girl - sure hope that she gets a full ride for her efforts. Look on her face last night was priceless.

I did feel sorry for her. I wonder if people apply for that position?
