"The latest developments mean Manziel could play for former SMU coach June Jones, who now coaches the Tiger-Cats."
Wish we had got him to SMU under June. Would have made a huge difference in our future I would guess. Maybe the best college player I have seen in person, against us.

Yes but the problem is that had he been on our team he would not have played us.

Head Coach June Jones hired 76 year old Jerry Glanville last week
as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator for the CFL Ticats.

June would never have played him.

True.

And don't forget we were hanging with A&M for most of the first half of that game and had Manziel pretty much under control - it did get out of hand late in the second though.

It was 20-0 at the half, 6 of 9 first half drives were 3 and out, and there were 2 turnovers... that's not really hanging with anyone IMO.

No kidding. We got blown out by A&M from the beginning of the game. I remember cheering in the 2nd quarter...... when we got a first down....
We were not in anyway compatible. We did make Manzel scramble for his yardage though.

It was a mismatch..... our lack of talent was only exceeded by our lack of effort.

Not true! He'd be the safety who's name and number would be posterized on the wall of every SWC team we played while he was here!

I seem to recall being excited about that A$M game for about 2 series until Manzel broke loose on a scramble when we had them pinned inside the 10 that pretty much confirmed we were not going to be able to stop them.

That was the only SMU home game at Ford that I have been able to attend. Johnny Football destroyed our defense.

Exactly. It was more our inability to do anything on offense for most of the first half than anything Manziel did. Two first downs for the Ponies on our first five possessions - no wonder our defense cracked late in the second quarter...

Apologies for linking the A&M box score, but somehow SMU still hasn't updated most of the links to previous information since the site host change
