'12 they played at Rice, '14 they played UT in Arlington and '16 they played at A&M (Notice all stadiums are much bigger than Ford). However, they currently don't have any Texas schools on future schedules so SMU should at least make a call.

Robertson Stadium had a capacity of 32,000 just like Ford. I don't think the stadium would be an issue for UCLA.

10 years later, I bet their standards for visiting stadiums are different.

Rutgers committed to playing UCLA well before they joined the B1G. They aren't quite as desperate for cash now. And while the TV market played a role, the fact is that the decision was about much more than football. Research grant money far, far exceeds sports money ($658 million vs. $84 million per year) and joining the conference gave them access to collaborations with other major research universities. The sports part of it was just for show.
PS My other kiddo was an athlete at Rutgers when they made the switch, so I read a lot about this topic when it happened.
