No surprise since SBNation had rated us about 20 spots below them.

We will see whether Sonny's team can win road games. That would certainly be a sign of improved toughness. Have we won in Denton since the JJ debacle?

The 4-5 year total rebuild excuse apparently didn't apply at little ole' UNT.

In 2014, the tiki debacle year, when over halfway through the season, SMU was within spitting distance of having THE MOST inept season in college football history.

We started the season 0-4, losing by a combined 202-12. We would go on to lose to 4 other teams by a combined 177-29. That’s 8 teams we lost to by 379-41.

When we headed to Denton, where we we would get shellacked 43-6, SMU was 2.5 point dogs to North Texas.

Today we are 1.5 point dogs.

If I’m the President of this University, after all the $$$ spent on chad, all the $$$ and valuable real estate I gave up for the IPF, looking at attendance and season ticket sales, I’d have to ask myself, is this really worth it.

UNT finished 9-5 last season - two games ahead of conference-mate Louisiana Tech, who they beat head to head.

What makes you think that the SMU returnees minus 2 NFL Wide Receivers are going to win on the road?

(BTW - I'm not sure we win last year's home game vs. UNT without Sutton)

You do realize Courtland Sutton scored 4 TDs in the first 31 minutes of that game and accounted for 28 points in our 22 point win. He also scored 3 TDs in our 13 point win at UNT the previous year. One could say that he was the difference in both games.

The entire slate of returning WRs had 5 receptions in that game last year- led by 2 from Proche and 2 from Gailliard.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see Proche and Gailliard post 250 yards of offense and 4 TDs on UNT this year - but I am not counting on it.

North Texas is a good football team and we're a relative unknown. Not sure why all this angst. Let's lace 'em up and see what happens.
