Hadn't heard there was a new football league starting in February of next year. The Alliance of American Football kicks off with 8 teams (one of which is in San Antonio), who are all in the process of filling out rosters and coaching staffs.

Interesting coaching additions:
Tom Mason - Linebackers coach for the Memphis Express
Jason Phillips - Wide Receivers coach for the Salt Lake Stallions

I quickly scanned the rosters but didn't see any former SMU players, but in all honesty, I could have missed them.

The head coaches include Steve Spurrier, Dennis Erickson, Mike Singletary, Rick Neuheisel, and Mike Martz. Let's see if this league makes it past the first season.

Coaching staffs appear to be mostly complete so unless he wants to take a QB coaching job in the league, he'll either need someone to back out at the last minute or wait till season 2.

hope they are very successful. I no longer watch the felons league as I am tired of these prima donnas disrespecting our national anthem, our flag, our service men and our country.

Go Rams. Fun team to watch. Let’s see how long they can stay undefeated. :D

Hey now. June is CFL playoff bound (clinched).

Dude is a better coach than Tom Herman wannabe.

I said not one word of hate. I just think he would prefer coaching a professional team in American football. If the league lasts 2 or 3 years I would bet he would be there.

Don’t think there is hate but in reality June was here for the paycheck as mercenary. He didn’t care anything about the school. And he left the school in shambles in case you forgot.

It wasn't entirely mercenary. He was a bad fit here culturally for sure.

I never felt he came to SMU. It felt like he was trying to prove he could win at another school to boost the demand for his services, which would lead to more of a high-profile gig (and yes, that would mean money). Always seemed like it was more about ego than money.

JJ got more than a 100% increase in pay for coming to SMU and I think he might have stayed if he could have taken this program to a BCS Bowl as he had done with Hawaii. I think the turning point came after beating TCU in Ft Worth and then playing UCF at home (the team we had lost to in the previous year's AAC Championship game) in front of a very disappointing crowd. I think that's when he realized the "necessary" support didn't exist at SMU to accomplish what TCU has and felt he better start looking around for a better job. When the ASU deal fell through, I felt like he was burned out on SMU.
