SMU’s Hicks, Mitchell, Cincinnati’s Broughton, Tulane’s Glover are weekly award winners

PROVIDENCE,R.I. -- TheAmerican Athletic Conference has announced the winners of theleague’s weekly football honors for the 10th week of thecollege football season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ben Hicks • SMU • Jr. • QB • Waco, Texas
Hicks threw four touchdown passes and finished with 318 passing yards and no interceptions on 43 attempts to lead SMU to a45-31 win against No. 17 Houston, bringing the Mustangs within a game of the Cougars in The American’s West Division race. Hicks threw TD passes of 7, 17, 1 and 59 yards and finished with more than 300 passing yards for a school-record10th time in his career.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Cortez Broughton • Cincinnati • Sr. • DT • Warner Robbins, Ga.
Broughton had a game-high 10 tackles with a half-sack and 1.5 tackles for loss to lead a Bearcat defense that held Navy to a season-low 171 offensive yards in a 42-0 win, moving the Bearcats a game out of first place in The American’s East Division. Broughton helped to limit Navy to 124 rushing yards.

Kyran Mitchell • SMU • Sr. • LB • Houston, Texas
Mitchell led an SMU defense that held No. 17 Houston to 172 yards below its nation-leading average as the Mustangs took a 45-31 win. Mitchell had seven tackles to go with 2.0 sacks, 3.0 tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries to help SMU become the first team to hold Houston to fewer than 41 points in2018.

SPECIALTEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Merek Glover • Tulane • Jr. • K • Jericho, N.Y.
Glover s cored a career-high 11 points, with two field goals and five PATs to help Tulane to a 41-15 win at USF, moving the Green Wave into a tie for second place in The American’s West Division. Glover hit field goals of 38 and 24 yards as part of a 20-point second quarter for the Green Wave.

HONOR ROLL

McKenzie Milton • UCF • Jr. • QB
Completed17 of 33 passes for 312 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing TD in a 52-40 win against Temple, the Knights’ 21ststraight victory.

Damonte Coxie • Memphis • So. • WR
Had 10receptions for 176 yards and two touchdowns in a 59-41 win at ECU.

Darius Bradwell • Tulane • Jr. • RB
Rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries, turning in his seventh straight game with a TD, in a 41-15 win at USF.

Patrick Johnson • Tulane • So. • LB
Had five tackles with 1.5 sacks to lead a defense that had five sacks in a 41-15 win at USF.

Shamari Brooks • Tulsa • So. • RB
Rushed for 157 yards on 17 carries in a 49-19 win against UConn.
