I just remember being one of 3,000 people left in the stands at the end of the Tulsa game last season when we became bowl eligible on a Friday night.

To attract the casual fan of Dallas who has no investment in or relationship with SMU, you have to have a winning program. Fans flock to winners. We have been bad for a generation and are improving to mediocre. I like the way this team has bounced back after the tough start to the season. I think Dykes will do some good things with this program. Our goal has to be to win the AAC year in and year out. Baby steps at this point. We are not relevant in the National discussion.

The students showed up and were into it for the first time all season. But yeah, that is our fan base and that's the result of three decades of irrelevance. I didn't think it was that bad all things considered.
