IMO this type of play should be punished on the same level as targeting.

I was pretty certain I saw this when they pulled up the replay. I thought he got injured when he got leveled but I saw that he fought for the ball after he lost it and didn’t squirm from the leg injury until this guy twisted his leg.

Has Memphis historically been known as a "dirty" school? There were several violent face mask calls, and more than a few head twists that should have been called. It also seemed like defensive holding or pass interference could be called on several plays, as the Tiger DBs seemed to be grabbing our WRs quite often. That has to be "taught" or at least winked at by their staff.

Not sour grapes, I thought Memphis deserved the win after the way we played.

I think it's fair to say that physical intimidation was part of the Memphis game plan.

That's some BS. If I were Aresco I'd suspend that guy the rest of the year. Should be zero tolerance for that [deleted].

Not to defend it, but if Becker was squirming for the ball and 34 was trying to hold him back, it might have been defensible, but it sure looked like it was an intentional twist of the knee.

It was intentional, my wife while I was getting another beer screamed at TV so we looked at it on the DVR. Tape doesn’t lie and it wasn’t only thing they did if you watch - the kick to Proche on sideline, the constant helmet eye pokes on West, etc. not to mention the pre-game and half time stuff and the black shirted coach with beard shoving our players. Not why we lost, but video shows it.

My neighbor who is a college D coordinator says it comes back to coaches allowing it, but karma has a way of coming around eventually on these things. Memphis not taking bunch of Rhodes scholars.

Becker had some choice words for 34 when Memphis went up the tunnel at halftime. I couldn't hear him, but he was furious. It looked like someone was holding him back, too

Saw that too. Memphis LB Dillon’s response was to laugh at him

Stay classy, Memphis.

If that is true, Dillon won't feel any remorse. But he should, and so should his coaches. That's disgraceful.

It didn't cost us the game, but it was an egregious, dirty play. You have to overcome missed calls, and mistakes.

We did neither.

When the other team plays to the "echo of the whistle", you have to play smash mouth. There was a day that the O-Line would have simply taken care of that the next series. The days of Hellestrae, Joe Beard,Tab Keener and one Clement (The Block) Fox are long past...and those kind of mean-as-a-snake linemen are a rare thing nowadays... We don't have any of those on this team at present.

On to Tulsa...and a win and a local, minor bowl.
