Applewhite is trash. What has he ever done other than inappropriate relations with a student?

They screwed up. They hired the only coach willing to sign their one-sided contract. Holgorsen won't sign that contract. So they either accept they are a stepping stone for the next guy or settle for someone dumb enough to sign their bad deal.

Eh.

Houston could do worse. It’s a better job IMHO.

And Dana will make the cougs interesting.

Very good hire and two straight firings after 8 win seasons is really gutsy. Hopefully that level soon.

Stand corrected. I remember that TCU team. Stiffed by Ohio State in the voting that year. Typical case of bigger is better. I see this less of a conference decision but more of an alumni size decision. Far less TCU fans than tOSU fans. Allusions of 1982 perhaps. Many more Pedophile U fans than SMU fans. Sometimes it breaks down like that. Life is not always fair.

Had no idea Rape U had ever won anything.

Worrisome for SMU. The American is stacked moving forward.

I would not say "stacked"; maybe evolving would be a better description.

Yeah, right, it's worrisome for SMU to be in a conference with good teams...because everyone cares about a program that only beats crappy programs to get to 7-8 wins a year.

Why wouldn't we want our conference to be as strong as possible, with our team doing the same? This is good for the American and likewise good for SMU, provided Sonny and crew keep doing their jobs and the admin supports them.

Exactly! A rising tide lifts us all. I’m hoping Temple hires Neal Brown or another very strong candidate.

The only possible worrisome thing would be the admin start to go lazy with our programs (Football and Basketball). It's great that our conference mates are putting the investment in to not only build their brand but also the conference. It will be crucial to build a program to be in the top 4 in all categories for both basketball and football. It's absolutely critical especially with talks of realignment occurring. Next season needs to be an 8 win or more season.

1) Arkansas State - on the road and will be extremely tough especially given our QB situation
2) NTCC @ home - this needs to be a win and reverse this idea that they're a rival
3) Texas State - should be an auto win (3-9 this season)
4) TCU - away and hopefully is competitive but like most sadly, a L

5) Houston - away - I think this can be a win given a new coach's first year
6) Memphis - away - probably a L
7) Navy - away - hopefully a W
8) ECU - home - hopefully a W
9) Temple - home - tough matchup
10) Tulane - home - should be a win
11) Tulsa - home - should be a win
12) USF - away - probably a L

Non- conference: 3-1
Conference: 5-3

Season 8-4 - I hope for surprise wins and hopefully we are perfect at home to offset any tough losses on the road. Thoughts? I really hope no one on here is thinking 7-5 would be a feat, especially 6-6.

A "good" team I would expect to have 8 wins minimum with that schedule. 7 wins would be a very average team. 6 would be a below average team because you are dropping a home game to Temple or losing at Ark St.
