They need to create a scholarship fund strictly for scholarships like most 'real' college football programs have - USC, Notre Dame, et al. That $$$ goes strictly to scholarships & nothing else.

We've been talking about this for 20+ years & as usual - nothing has happened. Pls say I'm wrong.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

I do have to say how shocking the low number of donors is on this - especially with the change to allow these contributions to count toward your total Mustang Club donation.

66 for football?

I understand 30 for men's basketball but that is still an embarrassingly low total.

I know these things have traditionally been driven by parents which is why you see big totals for stuff like equestrian and rowing, but SMU has been pushing this hard all over social media and it is sad so few people participate with the new donation rules.

Swimming & Diving had 94 donors, when you combine Men's (5th) and Women's (6th) Teams. The combined donations were $20k.

Candidly, the Women Teams came in 1, 2, 3, 6, 10, 11, 14, 15 and 16. The first three had a total of 711 donors for more than $73k. Impressive.

1 Equestrian Excellence Fund 292
2 SMU Rowing Team Excellence Fund 248
3 Women's Soccer Team Excellence Fund 171
4 Football Team Excellence Fund 83
5 Men's Swimming and Diving Excellence Fund 47
6 Women's Swimming and Diving Excellence Fund 47
7 Men's Basketball Excellence Fund 37

Nice showing by some of the less prominent programs. And hard to see that men's basketball showing as anything other than a rebuke of on court showing.
