while waiting interminably for the tcu game I was wondering who the worst team in the state of Texas is:

utep
utsa
unt

espn has them lumped together.
rice is right there wallowing in the bottom with them
i'm calling it too close to call

UNT has no place on that list. TX State and Rice are worse than UNT.

Secondly, the AAC really needs to step up on winning it's bowl games. As much as I think the arrangements are trash, we, as a conference, have absolutely sucked at them.

Half of our teams are usually playing without their coach after he gets poached. That has something to do with it.

Valid point. I'm surprised no one has posted a stat of which G5 conference has the most poached coaches since the CFP initiation. The American would have to be # 1, right? Chad, Herman, Rhule. I'm sure I'm missing some others.

The new ESPN bowl projection has some very intriguing matchups for SMU! I would be all over either one of them!

SMU v Arizona State in the Frisco Bowl
SMU v Baylor in the Texas Bowl

American-8 (Justin Fuente, Matt Rhule, Willie Taggart, Tom Herman, Chad Morris, Scott Frost, Geoff Collins, Manny Diaz)

MAC-6 (Dan Enos, Matt Campbell, Dino Babers, Pete Lembo, P.J. Fleck, Rod Carey)

Sun Belt-3 (Willie Fritz, Scott Satterfield, Neal Brown)

Mountain West-2 (Jim McElwain, Matt Wells)

C-USA-2 (Todd Monken, Jeff Brohm)

Note to team. Win like crazy or you'll be in the Frisco bowl.

So, is the ServePro First Responder Bowl actually to be played in Ford Stadium, or is that a misprint ?

Love the "Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl" !

I believe Servpro is in the Cotton Bowl unless they are changing due to low attendance.

Game got moved to Ford because the Cotton Bowl is hosting the NHL Winter Classic

I still think we will be in Frisco or Ford unless we win 10+

Pat Forde has mentioned Memphis playing Auburn in the Cotton Bowl.

I assumed this was based on the idea of Memphis winning the conference.

We just beat arguably the best team on our schedule.

If we win our conference could I hope for SMU in the Cotton Bowl or is that a pipe dream?

If SMU is the highest-ranked non-P5 team, then this year the Ponies would go to one of the New Year’s Six bowl games that are not part of the playoff semifinals and finals. This year, those are the Cotton and Orange bowls. I can’t find the selection order for those two bowls online; normally the non-P5 team is the last one picked, but it’s at least possible the Cotton picks before the Orange and takes SMU.

Back in reality, though? Just beat USF.
