"The new contract also calls for some Saturday football games to be broadcast on ABC. Football, along with men's and women's basketball, will remain on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU, but the majority of basketball games and a significant number of the football games will go to ESPN+."

Sure a game involving ranked AAC football teams will now get promoted to ABC, but far more games (basketball and football) will get kicked to ESPN+. The extra money will always be appreciated, but this is sounds like mixed news at best.

Look for each deal ESPN negotiates to involve an ESPN+ component moving forward.
Do we really care if USF vs ECU is on ESPN+ as opposed to CBSSN? Streaming and OTT is only becoming more commonplace, not less.

You're going to have to explain to me how our athletic department receiving $5mm a year in additional revenue is "mixed".

ESPN+ is actually generating some nice momentum. Streaming is the future.

No, but we will care if it is a game involving SMU.

I didn't say it was bad for the school. I'm referring to the fan perspective, viewership, ratings, etc.

I think most of our games will remain where they are now. Our suck games (us in BB) will be on ESPN+. But, ESPN will have to fill the void of lost games once the ACCN comes on line in August. Plus, I bet CBS will want to keep our content as well. And, with Bowl money and tournament money - This IS good!

That's great. I'm sure RGT is already wondering how many new fountains he can build with that money.

It's nice to see ESPN reward The American for the incredible Power Six content we have provided them in both football and basketball.

Looking forward to the continued great exposure for our conference!
