The Commodores and Mustangs will play three times in the next 10 years, athletic officials from both schools announced Wednesday.

The Commodores will host the first meeting with SMU on Sept. 14, 2024. The teams will play again in Nashville on Sept. 9, 2028, then meet on the SMU campus in Dallas for the finale in Sept. 15, 2029.

The 2024 affair will be the fifth meeting between Vanderbilt and SMU.

That crushing defeat our post death-penalty team handed Vandy at Ownby was the REAL miracle on Mockingbird! Nobody saw that coming.

Fumbled on the first series and scored on every other. Of course we then followed it with 10 straight losses.

Very good chance Vanderbilt will back out after their two home games! Could be a very poor Athletic Department business decision, if they don't have an extremely large buyout clause for the Ford game. What are the chances, Hart screwed the pooch on this deal?

If we are going to do 2 for 1 deal, I certainly wouldn't have given Vandy the first two years!

Would you rather us schedule Houston Baptist?

I think this is a fair point. I also think it’s odd we get a home game after they’ve gotten both of theirs.

smu fans always concentrate on the negative. we're made that way.
but this is a very good move.
we need to schedule winnable games from power 5 conferences.
not Michigan or their ilk.

we can beat half of the big 10 schools.
let's get Indiana, Rutgers, Minnesota, Nebraska or illinois on the schedule.

ucf did win the nc last year so we can wait 5 years to play Alabama or Clemson.

My father went to Vandy, and played football there. I was maybe 12 years old when this game took place and was rooting for Vandy, had no idea who SMU was. We listened to it on the radio and I asked my dad if SMU was any good. He just turned off the radio and walked off, mad.
