The practice wasn't that long and didn't show a lot.

That said...

* The team passes the eye test. Much bigger. The transfers help. James is huge.
* Lots of players held out. Have no idea if injuries or just to hold them out.
* With Moore not playing, McBryde played middle LB with the ones. Yes, already.
* Our LBs are short. They can run, but it will be interesting to see how they handle power running teams if the DL tries to make plays instead of eating blockers. Mitchell and Nelson showed up everywhere last year and made plays, especially Mitchell. He got ahead of the plays so he wasn't touched. I don't see that from the LB crew this year. Might be something to keep an eye on, because they created a lot of negative plays last season, made a lot of plays that brought the defensive performance forward several levels.
* Stephens is going to push for a starting corner spot at some point this season. He has size and can run.
* We need Chevin Calloway to get his waiver.
* Zach is going to have a huge impact. Him playing next to Gary is going to cause some problems. He requires a double team.
* Bryant it looks like has won the RT spot.
* It looks like RG is a battle between Dennis and.... K Smith. After battling for a tackle spot in the spring, it looks like Smith is now in a battle for RG. With Thomas, Bryant, Morris, Ike, and Webb at tackle, it seems the depth is good enough to slide Smith back inside. Not sure if they will get there this season, but next year the OL will be a strength of the team. The depth is there for once. Now they just need one of the starters to ball out. I didn't see anything to indicate that someone on the OL is ready to dominate this season. But there is too much depth and youth for it not to happen next season. Ali and Thomas are the two to keep an eye on and see if they can break through this year.

Oh yeah, one more...

We are way, way, way better at QB. Shane is as advertised. And Brown has improved significantly. His footwork and delivery motion are night and day from what they were. He is a much more capable passer than he showed last year.
