From Nate's mouth to God's ear.
Looking for improvement but as Nate said. This teams grit showed last week.
Go Mustangs.

I liked everything you wrote except the "rival" part. That's a one way street.

We've played these guys almost 40 times so like it or not, that constitutes a local rival

As much as I'd love to agree, this IS the team that 36-0 skunked us last year.

I wouldn't read too much into the points UNT gave up in the second half. I'm sure they played a TON of true frosh during that period, and that led to quite a few of the big plays. This was one of the games they had available to get playing time to kids without burning redshirts.

Come on man that's so petty. I though it was a damn good write-up for a young dude.

Series 31-6-1
Longest win streak (SMU): 11
Longest win streak (NTCC): 1

The last two wins came on an exiting coach who tried to quit and failed (Tiki [deleted]) and worst loss 43-6 and Dykes first year 46-23. Normalize that out and the last real loss was in 2006. There's no tradition (grilling frog legs on Iron Skillet) or Mayor's cup with Rice. No shared history like Houston & Rice (SWC).

Who we consider rivals:
1) TCU
2) Houston
3) Navy
4) Rice

Newer ones:
1) Cincy (both basketball and football)

Just my opinion, and I'm not saying NTCC didn't get a good coach under their helm which good for them. I have no real excitement over this game. I have the expectation that Dykes is Year 2 and has done a great job in the recruiting/transfers department and I fully expect to win this game and going forward. The last time we lost on campus was 1933. Let's make sure it stays that way.

I don't disagree with you that they're lower on our totem pole of rivals, but they're definitely a bigger rival in today's day and age than Navy and Rice.

And I also do recognize that we have historically dominated UNT, but I meant more so that recently they've been a much tougher out and the last time we saw these guys they killed SMU.

Alright one more comparison and then I'm done. UT is 15-3 against Kansas (83%) and we are 31-6 (84%) yet UT would laugh at KU fans for suggesting a rivalry yet we have a slightly higher win %. Convincing? Maybe worth taking out rival and just community college north-east of SMU? :D

And the BS targeting call on Denbow on 3rd and long basically gave them their first TD. He went in for a normal waist level tackle and their dude fell down. Denbow seems to have terrible luck in the first game.
