ESPN College GameDay coming to Dallas?

May be getting way ahead of skis and didn't want to mention till 6-0 was in the barn...

BUT

Looking ahead to Temple game there are really no other big Top 25 games that day -- best one I see is ORE @ WAS.

Knowing ESPN GAMEDAY always visits a Group of 5 site, could SMU-Temple set up as nice option?

If Temple beats Memphis next week, then they are 2-0 in conference and 5-1 overall with wins over Maryland and Ga Tech. Oh, and one lose to Buffalo. Not sure that our SOS and Temples SOS raises many eyebrows.

One would think a more likely possiblity is undefeated SMU at undefeated Memphis.

Maybe SMU @ Memphis --- Not many marquee match ups that week either.

UTAH @ Was and GEO @ FLA (but they just went to Gainesville this week - although I think this one is in Jacksonville)

I think @ Memphis assuming we are both undefeated and ranked is the only chance for Gameday. But there’s still a lot of football to play first, stay focused! Yesterday helped prepare the team for wearing a target each week.

It might come down to if Temple gets the upset against Memphis. If so, then I could see it but I agree with the dissenters.

#1 spot would go Michigan v Penn St

#2 then probably us in the above situation

#3 Arizona St v Utah

#4 then us with a 4-2 Temple

Given our new rise in fame, and a great match up, it's not out of the realm of possibility.

I would be curious to see what a gameday crowd at SMU would be like. In the past I would have been worried about an embarrassingly small crowd, but after seeing the crowd we drew last night, how during espn gameday highlights ESPN said to listen to how loud the crowd was when James’ OT catch was called a td, and all the excitement in Dallas around the team; I am optimistic that SMU would have a solid showing.

Just some historical context. They like to do one non-P5 stop a year (excluding Army-Navy). Here are some of the past examples...

2018: #19 Cinci at #11 UCF
2017: #11 Nova (FCS) at #1 James Madison (FCS)
2016: (Unranked 2-8) Buffalo at #14 Western Michigan
2015: #11 Richmond (FCS) at #1 James Madison (FCS)
2014: (New FCS program) Incarnate Word at #1 NDSU (FCS)
2013: 0-2 FCS) Delaware state at #1 NDSU (FCS)
2012: Troy at Navy (Hosted from deck of a Carrier)
2011: SMU at #10 Houston
2010: #4 TCU at #6 Utah

A Temple CGD would be a “we just want to highlight this program” more than boost ratings for a prime time game on an off week. I think Memphis is more likely if everything lines up. Although, if Bush promised to be the picker...things could be arranged I’m sure.

Somebody needs to start working that last idea...
