Bonus structure for Sonny

I’m assuming Sonny has bonuses in his contract for things like being ranked, winning the division, winning the conference, winning a bowl game, etc.

Anyone know what it looks like?

Don't worry, at the rate he's going, he will get paid!

Anyone know what our coordinators make? I’m curious to know if it is close to what the lower tier P5 schools pay theirs.

yes...but by who?

it's a the big elephant in the room...the more we win...the more press we get...will bring new suitors

a buddy at work told me..."it's a catch 22, God Forbid we win ten games and some bigger better deal will come snatch our dreams away".

Personally I think it's in our favor that Sonny has already experienced the big leagues Pac 12 pressure cooker....hopefully at this point in his career he will be comfortable at SMU, back in Texas, life in Highland Park, making millions, happy wife, and really a lot less pressure...win 7-9 games a year...in this conference maybe 10 wins occasionally...and never fear getting fired....not a bad life.

Probably have to pay him $3.5 million or more. Hopefully can backload it due to Cal's funding.

He'll end up being an NFL head coach one day - that will be his payoff. I doubt that he looks at other college jobs and thinks that they're worth the hassle.

Well thank goodness for the TV renegotiation. That will help. If we go undefeated, we really need Turner to go on football road tour for funding. We cant count on CoC as it is, forever.

Unless SMU refuses to pony up a competitive salary, I doubt Dykes leaves unless it’s for the Texans or Cowboys.

The only solution to that is to keep hiring good coaches. Nobody keeps a coach forever.

10-15 successful years would be good. And yes, some coaches do stay. Patterson at tcwho, Hayes (RIP) at OSU. etc.

I think everyone has a price but I don't think people are going to be writing blank checks yet. I think they will want to see how the rest of the season goes. If you look at our first 6 games vs last 6, it's quite a bit difference. Memphis and Houston on the road will be big wins and we are underdogs against memphis. Tulane and Temple at home are still challenges. Navy on the road in the cold will be a toss up.

No he won't. He loves this job, and college football. Nobody is going to screw this up.

You seem to forget we have a do little president (regarding sports), an admin. that hates sports and frats, and an AD that could pass for a mental hernia. Yes, this is SMU, somehow it will get screwed up.
