Seems like they don't have shows at the most inopportune times.

Yes, they had a show tonight. Tweeted out a few notes, but here are some (paraphrased) takeaways from the show:

• On preparation to defend Navy's triple-option offense: We spend time on it year-round. We spend (parts of) four practices during spring practice on it, and we worked on it about once a week during fall camp. It's very difficult to replicate in practice because we don't do it all the time, and that's what makes Navy so tough to defend: the fact that they run the system so precisely. They also are very good at adjusting — they're always one step ahead, because they adjust to their opponent. People try to play (against) that offense a lot of different ways, and Navy adjusts to those different schemes.

• Navy's offense is more diverse than ever. It's no longer just a triple-option scheme all the time. Navy coach Kenny Niumatalolo has added to the passing game. Navy throws the ball better than in years past, and even will run occasionally out of the shotgun... They have added some Run-and-Shoot elements in the passing game. They have gotten harder to defend by diversifying, and they'll show you a lot of looks, and then execute very well. They play hard and execute at a high level. If you don't play as hard or harder, you're probably not going to win.

• SMU has run more offensive plays than any team in the country, and the top two players in the country for the most offensive snaps are SMU offensive linemen Alan Ali and Hayden Howerton.

• Dykes did not necessarily come into the season thinking running back Xavier Jones would have such heavy workload, in part because he has had health issues in the past. Through 10 games, Jones has 214 touches: 196 carries and 18 receptions. Dykes said he anticipated more rotation with Jones and Ke'Mon Freeman and even T.J. McDaniel, but that the number of carries from one game to the next fluctuates based on how the game unfolds and on Dykes' "gut feeling."

• On dropping during the bye week from No. 20 to No. 21 in the Associated Press poll: "Polls are nice, it's good to get in, and we've been ranked (for) what ... six weeks? It's nice to get in, but it's better to stay in. The only poll I care about is at the end of the year. If we win enough games, we'll be where we want to be."

• On his aggressiveness, such as the decision to go for two in overtime against Navy, or choices to go for it on fourth down: Everybody has got a chart, telling you what to do in a lot of situations, (but) I ignore the chart. I go more with my gut.
