James Proche Named Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (TQCF/SMU) – James Proche was today named one of 12 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, recognizing college football's outstanding FBS receiver regardless of position.

Proche leads Mustang receivers with 1,008 yards and 12 touchdowns off 88 receptions in 2019. After a pair of scores in the win over ECU, the senior set SMU’s record for career receiving touchdowns with 36, surpassing SMU-great Emmanuel Sanders. He is also second all-time at SMU in receiving yards (3,732) and receptions (278).

His 8.8 receptions per game this season lead the nation, while his receiving touchdown total is fifth and his receiving yards are 10th. Proche has posted four games this season with at least 100 receiving yards, and four with 10+ receptions. In the win over ECU, he registered his ninth straight game with a receiving touchdown, which set an SMU record.

Among active FBS receivers, Proche is first in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, while ranking third in receptions per game (5.91) and fourth in receiving yards per game (79.4).

Proche opened the season as a member of the Maxwell Award, Paul Hornung Award and Earl Campbell Tyler Award Watch Lists.
