Re: Possible Payouts
IIRC in the past all the bowl monies went to the league and were then distributed equally among all of the participants. Is that no longer correct? or was I totally misinformed?

Pretty sure that is still the case. Does UConn get a cut this year?redpony wrote:IIRC in the past all the bowl monies went to the league and were then distributed equally among all of the participants. Is that no longer correct? or was I totally misinformed?

Re: Possible Payouts
Close, but not exact. The participating school gets the first cut to cover their expenses (if it is a NY6 bowl, they get an extra bonus). Then the remaining money is pooled and shared.redpony wrote:IIRC in the past all the bowl monies went to the league and were then distributed equally among all of the participants. "The AAC will withhold all conference revenues that would have otherwise been paid to UConn in 2019 and 2020. That money amounts to roughly $5.1 million for the initial payment and is expected to again be between $5-6 million next year."mrydel wrote:Does UConn get a cut this year?

Re: Possible Payouts
Worth noting these are total payouts, not per team. Also worth noting that our conference doesn't have an affiliation with the Texas bowl, so not sure if that's projected as a possibility based on a shortage of Big12 teams.

Half - yikes - Some of those won't even cover the teams cost for transportation and stay.MustangStealth wrote:Worth noting these are total payouts, not per team. Re: Possible Payouts
Just remember.... AAC collects all revenues and then reallocates. It's important for us to get NY6 Bowl every year as that is a huge payout. Getting P5 bowls definitely helps and could be a great payout year if we are able to lobby for it.

Yep. That's why a lot of the lower tier bowls that are ESPN owned frequently put the host school in the game. One Trick Pony wrote:Half - yikes - Some of those won't even cover the teams cost for transportation and stay.MustangStealth wrote:Worth noting these are total payouts, not per team. Re: Possible Payouts
American really needs to push some of these low payout bowls to secondary relationships. So when SMU has a 7-5 or 6-6 season, they can take us. I'm sure Aresco is out there cracking the whip.

I recant my statement. Aresco was sitting on the couch eating cheesy poofs.SMU_Alum11 wrote:American really needs to push some of these low payout bowls to secondary relationships. So when SMU has a 7-5 or 6-6 season, they can take us. I'm sure Aresco is out there cracking the whip.
