Have to wonder where this team would have landed had Roberson not gotten hurt at Houston.

Would we have had just enough to beat Memphis?

One more option in those final 2 drives @ Navy?

Damn --- hard to convince me that wasn't the difference in our season...

So bummed about how we finished --- Get ready to shore up this DEFENSE.

Yes, things to ponder upon for the next week but OMG we are so much better.

Before that we lost some DB,S and linebacker.

That speed could not be replaced.

Merry Christmas to all.

We missed him a lot - he could get behind any safety that didn't spot him 10+ yards at the line.

I would nba load management him. Play him every other game or something along those lines. You don’t plow fields with a ferrari.

Next year with Gray, Thad and Wiggins, you have three other players that can be that secondary deep threat.

WR will definitely be upgraded next year and that is after losing Proche!!! Think about that for a second.

It hurt definitely. Although Rice played well at both Memphis and Navy and showed up late in the FAU game. Maybe the field had dried off some by then.

As I watched Buchele overthrow deep balls on the last four games of the year I couldn't help but believe he was just zoned in on Roberson and was throwing a deep ball to him, having difficulty adjusting to the lack of his sheer speed on those plays. I'm not sure about Memphis, but I genuinely believe it cost us against Navy and FAU.

Roberson was a true deep thread. Defenses had to respect that. Once he was gone, we didn't have a true deep threat. And defense started playing a bit tighter on receivers. Yes, his injury limited the vertical game and allowed Ds to squeeze tighter on the short-intermittant game. This put more pressure on short passes and helped in the box against the run.

Shane was probably use to airing it out and Roberson running under it.

Field conditions at both Navy and FAU slowed our receivers down from what they usually do in practice and I think Shane had a hard time taking that into account.

Losing Reggie hurt but the drop off by our defense in the second half of the season was the real issue IMO

Let's not forget that special teams played a big part in that 1st loss of the season in the much hyped game at Memphis. Field position was horrible all night long for that game and we worried about FGs and even extra points all season long. That part of this team needs major improvement.

Funny, but I'd forgotten that. Robledo coming back helped.
