If I were Baylor I’d really look at Dykes. Hell, if I’m Washington State I’d look at him too.

Get ready guys, this could go south for us quickly.

That post has to be one of the more asinine posts in a long while. Evidently their past coaching stints at Oklahoma and Kansas State isn’t worth noting. What happened at Baylor in multiple sports has zero to do with any other school. It’s on Baylor and it’s stupid to play guilt by association. Not sure what point he is trying to make other than to take a cheap shot at SMU.

The self loathing some here have for SMU is depressing.

In all fairness I never liked Bliss. I'm one of the few Sonny Allen fans left I suppose, but I thought that Bliss was letting some talented troublemakers exert too much influence on the team. From what I have learned about him since the documentary film about Baylor, my instincts appear to have been correct. Never cared for PB. I don't think anything has been proved about his involvement in the sex scandal, but I didn't care for his coaching style or his offensive strategy. By all accounts he is a decent defensive coach. Since they don't play defense in the Big 12 it is hard to tell.

In my opinion, Joey Maguire has the inside track at Baylor. And Sonny will probably stay at SMU where he is loved and is building something great.

Nowhere did I indicate that SMU had anything to do with what went on at Baylor or that it was somehow SMU's fault. I agree with you - it's all on Baylor. Just making the statement that hiring former SMU coaches has never worked out for any school in my lifetime - and I am old.

And yes- Phil B. was involved in it too - perhaps even more than Briles - whether you like to hear it or not - he was the one who recruited Sam Ukwuachu. He also participated in keeping it all quiet and keeping him on the team.

I had forgotten about Bennett. I should have gone “all out” in my research.

Wasn’t our current strength and conditioning coach at Baylor during the Briles era?

Sonny may have learned the hard way that bigger isn't always better from his experience at Cal. Then he spent a year watching Patterson who owns Fort Worth and has a statue up without a National Championship. Sometimes being the biggest fish in the small pond is a better QOL. Morris was never going to stay here, he just parked at SMU to get his recruiting legs under him to bounce to A&M, et al.

I may be wrong on this, but I think there were 19 HC vacancies this year and all have now been filled except for 1, Baylor.

NC game is in the books.

National Signing Date is 3 weeks away.

Shouldn’t Baylor make an announcement shortly?????

I still think Baylor is the only school at play here. I be absolutely shocked and disappointed if he even entertained WSU. He's done PAC12 and it didn't work. It's not fun to live out there in the sticks whereas he's got his home here in Big D. He doesn't want to keep uprooting his family. Baylor is the only possible nearby candidate that could take him and I think they're going internally.
