Here’s what I would do:
I would move Navy to the East, then add Boise and Air Force as numbers 12 and 13. Then I’d move Memphis to the East and add either BYU, SDSU or UNLV as number 14. If ESPN upped the anti, I would move Tulane to the East and add the other 2 as numbers 15 and 16.
Most or all of these adds would be for football only to minimize travel costs. Very seldom would a team have to cross the Mississippi River except for the championship game, which could be played at a neutral site like San Antonio or Birmingham.

Less expensive to fly to LAX than it is to Florida. How does the 6' 9 basketball player fit in a standard coach seat they have to have main cabin extra..

Pretty certain the team flies charter so if nothing else, there is room for the basketball team to spread out on a plane.

That's what she said

I kind of like the AAC big city southern profile and I know Boise, BYU and Air Force are great options but how much do you want to play one of those teams on the road in November---how well do we fair in Annapolis late in the year

I too am a southerner. I wouldn't like to play in cold weather. But some of the best teams are up north. (Think Michigan and Ohio State and Nebraska). I think we should go for the best competition.

We have to go for the best competition.

Check the date on that Nebraska reference tho.

I was thinking Tom Osborne days. They were always a thorn in Barry Switzer’s side.

In hindsight, might have been nice to have kept SDSU with the Big East-AAC when Boise left. They have had a nice run in FB and would be sweet this year in BB. I know they decided to return to MWC, but wish they hadn't. If they had stayed, then one of Tulsa and Tulane would not have been invited, I suppose.

You are probably right. Tulsa, Tulane and East Carolina were added the same year. Then Navy the next year. But that’s all water under the bridge now. What does the future bring?

It is important to keep in perspective what is truly important in life. Football and football conferences are not it. However, I want the AAC to be the best G5 or P6 conference in the country. That means attracting the best competition there is. BYU, AFA, & BSU far outshine any C-USA, Sunbelt, or MAC team in my opinion. Please don’t settle for less.

Absolutely agree with that. They’d better be cream of the G5 crop.

We already did with East Carolina and Tulsa. It is what it is.

Yes and we are now regretting it.

However I wouldn't mind seeing Rice admitted.
