Of course they did win one 50 years ago after leaving Dallas for K.C.

Who remembers the old Cotton Davidson/Abner Haynes Dallas Texans?

IIRC Jerry Mays was also on that team plus another SMU player that I don't remember.

I’m assuming your joking redpony.

It was Dallas native and QB Mike Livingston.

My dad took me to the Cotton Bowl to see the Texans, before I ever went to a Cowboy game.

I was a member of the Dallas Texans Huddle Club - 3rd grade. T-shirt in the cedar chest.

Jerry Cornelison from SMU played offensive tackle.

I looked up SMU QB Mike Livingston.

He was drafted by the Chiefs in the 2nd round.

During their Super Bowl season, Lenny Dawson was injured for 6 games and Livingston replaced him.

They went 6-0.

Dandy Don -- the first Dallas Cowboy -- was claimed by the Texans, but obviously never played for them.

Murchison stashed him by making him an employee of one of his companies for a year. Meredith was hired before Landry.

I might be wrong, but I believe a Horned Frog was the first official draft pick by the Cowboys...Bob Lilly
