Greatest QB in SMU History

Postby EastStang » Tue Jun 30, 2020 3:22 pm

Lots of choices here. Don Meredith; Mike Livingston, Chuck Hixson, Mike Ford, Fred Benners, Shane Bueschle, Ben Hicks, Garrett Gilbert, Jerry Rhome, Mike Romo, Ramon Flanagan, or Lance McIlhenny. Even Doak Walker. Just about any of them would be defensible for any number of reasons. I'm going to pick McIlhenny because he ran the ship during the Pony Express. He didn't have to pass much, his passes weren't very pretty, but we won with him under center. For a pure passer, Hixson wins that honor.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Certainly not the greatest; but Matt Davis - what might have been.
A long tradition of existence.

If you are going to include Ben Hicks, you might as well include Josh McCown, Justin Willis, and Kyle Padron.

Jerad Romo was a better quarterback than some of these guys.
