Any reports from practice?

Postby leopold » Sat Aug 15, 2020 4:49 pm

I genuinely appreciate Billy's look at the team but I have come to rely upon some of the locals for their birds-eye-view of the program and deep knowledge of it. By any chance has anyone, such as JasonB or Mrydel, been able to make it over to practice to take a look at the team?

Thanks in advance, I always look forward to ya'lls contributions.

I am a 5 hour drive from practice so I have not been able to drop by.

Today was quite spirited in the IPF. Hour & 15 or so. Lots of nice hitting but not taking backs/wr's to the ground. Been to a lot and they are really taking it slow/easy. Shane hit a couple nice ones and about a 45 harder to REggie down the right sideline.
I'm assuming and/or hoping that next week starts to pick up big time. It has not been bad at all so far. The shade and breeze from Ford Stadium has made the outdoor practices tolerable and the incredible air system at Armstrong Ipf cools those of us standing 6 feet away from the roll up doors.
Now time to rock and roll!

I've got my SMU masks and would love to go watch practice.

But if I am SMU, I am doing absolutely everything possible to ensure that everyone is kept at a distance, I am taking no chance on outbreaks. And with the students starting school next week, I am sure they are freaking out and are going to get uber strict.

If there is a way for me to observe without the school panicking, I'm in. But I'm not stepping on any toes this year - they have their hands full as it is.

I would keep your expectations low for the season. The NCAA cannot implement a bubble style format like other sports. Look how precarious the MLB has been and they have not even 1/4 as many teams as the NCAA.

Saw them practicing on the outdoor practice field last Tuesday morning. More jogging and stretching during my brief viewing. What's the balance of indoors vs. outdoors practice?
