San Marcos BBQ

Postby Topper » Sun Aug 30, 2020 12:40 pm

I know that not that many will make the trip down from Dallas, but if you do, check out Black's BBQ. It is owned by Kent Black who also owns the famous Lockhart original Blacks which is one of the great BBQ destinations in the world. Kent is a big SMU fan and makes it to many of the home games. Great brisket. And they open at 10:00 a.m.

Never mind — I got (slightly) less lazy and looked it up: 2 miles.

Thanks, Topper

You can order brisket "fatty" or "dry." I always get fatty. They have sauce but this is Central Texas style and you don't need it. They usually have giant beef ribs so big that 1 rib makes a pretty big meal. Pretty clear that I am a big fan of Blacks I suppose but it is also nice to know that there is an SMU connection to a really outstanding place. If you are coming in from East Texas or Houston you could stop at the original location in Lockhart.
