Memphis Pre-Seaon All American Sitting out Season

Postby max the wonder dog » Sun Aug 30, 2020 5:41 pm

Thought this worth a standalone thread.

Kenny Gainwell was 1st Team All AAC last year gaining >2,000 all purpose yards and a pre-season All American running back this year. Previews of upcoming season raved about his talent.

Is there a Transfer Portal in his future? Mike Williams is in a 2 year MBA program so it makes sense to sit out, but Gainwell is NFL-level talent and he would be just a red shirt sophomore this season. Why delay your NFL check another year, unless you believe a P5 school would help your prospects? I don't see him spending another 4 years in college.

That's huge.
They have other backs, but that dude is fantastic.

Plus, Antonio Gibson is finally gone.

Heard he's had several family members pass away from covid-19. He's planning on entering the 2021 NFL draft.

I had the Memphis game circled as the conference game I most wanted to win. I now think we will do it. However, I believe we did pretty well shutting him down last year and still lost. What were those stats? Major blow to Memphis and the AAC.

Read that 4 people in his family have died of the virus. That is really tough and I don't blame him at all.

4? Even 1 is heartbreaking.
That's brutal. I hope he can find some measure of peace.
