Chris Naggar: AAC Special Teams Co-Player of the Week

Postby PonyPride » Mon Sep 21, 2020 7:29 pm

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Chris Naggar • SMU • Sr. • K • Arlington, Texas
Naggar, a transfer from Texas, accounted for seven points to provide the winning margin in SMU’s 31-24 victory at Texas State in the Mustangs’ season-opener. He kicked a 32-yard field goal with 2:20 left to give SMU a 10-point lead, while he went 4-for-4 on PATs in his Mustang debut.

Bijan Nichols • Navy • So. • K • Heath, Texas
Nichols scored five points, but delivered a victory for Navy in the Midshipmen’s American Athletic Conference opener at Tulane as his 33-yard field goal as time expired gave Navy its only lead in a 27-24 come-from-behind win. It was the second consecutive season in which Navy topped the Green Wave on a Nichols field goal at the final gun as this year’s kick capped the Midshipmen’s comeback from a 24-0 halftime deficit

What a gift to have a solid kicker. Long overdue.

So nice to see touchbacks on KOs and a strong field goal foot. We can relax.
Long live Inez Perez!

I looked up his record at UT and figured he was a throwaway addition, since he didn't play in 2017 or 2018, and only had a couple of kickoffs last year.
Can't ever relax, but yes, it sure is nice.

There's this guy named Dicker down in Austin who is pretty good at kicking footballs.

No argument. All I said was that Naggar hadn't played almost at all. Nothing about Dicker. Naggar has been a very welcome addition.
