If we survive Tulane, it will be an awesome back to back top 25 match up. If we win (definitely not jumping ahead) and Cincy takes care of business, it will be a top 15 with us probably be a primetime #6 vs #14. Would be awesome for the conference to keep having that.

Yep, we've got to take care of business in New Orleans, but we'd have a nationally-relevant matchup for our Homecoming game.

College GameDay is still happening this year, just without crowds. And I don't see a single matchup on Sat Oct 24 that would be as compelling as undefeated Cincy at undefeated SMU. Iowa State and Okie State is the only matchup that could be close.

But first, beat Tulane.

100% they go to the Big Ten to draw attention to the opening of the Big Ten season.

You're not wrong in theory, but look at the actual matchups:

* Illinois at Wisconsin – 8pm, BTN (Fri.)
* Rutgers at Michigan State – 12pm, BTN
* Nebraska at Ohio State – 12pm, FOX
* Penn State at Indiana – 3:30pm, FS1
* Iowa at Purdue – 3:30pm, BTN
* Michigan at Minnesota – 7:30pm, ABC
* Maryland at Northwestern – 7:30pm, BTN

Most of the bigger names are on the road too. Maybe Nebraska at Ohio State is a big deal in 1999, but not so much today.

Exactly...because Big 10 is one of the flagship leagues for ESPN

Seems pretty clear from that lineup which game they will be at.

Well, maybe. But #19 at #24 > #8 at #17 just because of the Big Can't Count logo? Not necessarily. Plus, GameDay was at Minnesota less than a year ago! (And the Gophers got curb-stomped.)

Honestly, though, do you want Gameday on campus with no boulevard?

Isn’t that analogous to rejecting the advances of a beautiful woman because an even more beautiful woman isn’t currently available? If it’s Gameday, you do it.

If there are no crowds, SMU is the ideal candidate. We get to showcase our beautiful campus, our ascension under Sonny Dykes, and our current great team. We avoid being criticized for not having a huge crowd or huge in-game attendance. I think this would be an amazing opportunity to showcase our program and further cement our comeback to the forefront of college football. It would also help with recruiting. If we are selected, I think we would still be a candidate for selection down the road once COVID-19 is no longer the threat that it is and we can have regular crowds.
