Observations from game one:

Obviously it was nice to win and win big but that was pretty much expected vs ACU. Like Sonny said "it get's tougher from here". Good to see Tanner play well and what jumped out at me was how involved the TE group was. Those 3 transfers accounted for 7 or the 26 receptions and 4 of the 7 TDs so that was good to see. I liked Sonny's comment that since Preston can play 4 games and not burn a RS year, he wants to save his reps for "more meaningful games". That might come as early as next week vs UNT. I noticed LB Isaac Slade-Matautia did not play. Did not hear why.

You know I have to comment on the (lack of) attendance. Interesting that the box score on SMUMUSTANGS.com showed attendance as zero. Pretty much sums up why SMU is where it is in the conference realignment discussion but I assume those of us on PonyFans will continue to follow this program regardless of our conference affiliation and who we are competing against in future years. Kudos to those of you who attended and especially those who had to travel any significant distance to watch this game.

any idea what the actual attendance was? how many from ACU? probably not many as their enrollment is about half of SMUs.

By far, the BEST student attendance I can remember in some time (especially for a tune up game). A pretty good boulevard, too.

Of course they didn't really stay through the game. We really need people to follow the UT way of things: "Get there early, stay late, wear red or blue and be loud".
