SMU not sending the band to Rustin is a big L.

Know it is about $$, but SMU wastes so much $$ on needless spending every single year. They don't even have to over-night in Rustin - bus there and back. Sad.

Didn't the band go to every drivable game in the SWC days?

Asking myself why SMU would book this game in the first place. Maybe Sonny still knows people out there? Are we are getting a big fat check to travel? I hope we dont agree to play Houston Baptist at their place. Or , Ablilene, or UTSA.

Definitely went to every SWC game possible, yes It's all about $$$. SMU provides the band with VERY little budget for the entire year. Private donations are key to taking the group beyond Houston and Ft. Worth.

The Memphis trip for the Gameday ABC experience was all private donations. While they didn't march, having them in the stands with the throng of SMU peeps was huge.

It's totally a money thing.

La Tech is actually a credible opponent, unlike ACU. They are also a former conference mate and obviously Sonny has relationships there. Not a bad "local" game to schedule and should be a very competitive game, provided SMU brings it's "A" game. We all remember last time we played these guys. This is clearly not a $$ game as La Tech doesn't draw much better than SMU.

Getting some road experience before TCU.

I accept getting road experience before frogs.

Win Mustangs. And RUN the ball.

This is a trap game. Hopefully Sonny replays the tape of the bowl game where they slaughtered us. If we play like we should, we should win this game 49-35. If we play like we did last week, we lose 49-35. 3 turnovers will be touchdowns for La. Tech. So, we need to play our game with few turnovers.

BUS: running the ball does not seem to be working well.

Played golf today with a Michigan guy and a Virginia guy. When they asked who SMU was playing and I said La Tech, both responded "those guys are pretty good". La Tech has had enough big wins over the years that they are pretty well known among G5 football programs. This would be a good win for SMU, if we are able to win in Ruston.

Yeah they were clearly hedging bets that the hurricane would stall over Louisiana. Hope it disrupted lots of practice time over there, at least.

More concerning: not a single person (apart from cheer) has indicated that they are going...

Looks like heat won't be a factor and rain slightly less likely.
