We all share the observations in the student article, which was thoughtful and insightful, including calling out the tepid nature of the school's press release concerning recent events.

I propose the team and school seize the opportunity to create our own future by demonstrating we are a high performing team, which represents a quality university located in a magnificent market filled with the best talent in the nation.

Dumb. Would the writer have been happier if we won by the same margin of 54-31 like in games of the past? We won by 23, covered, and kept them to one touchdown. A TCU fan friend texted to say “looks like y’all handled North Texas well”. To anyone that sees the score, we kicked their [deleted] and just didn’t score as much as we normally do. We also didn’t allow 30+ points like we normally do. The Big 12 isn’t scrutinizing the line play and dropped passes and saying that we played sloppy and didn’t impress them and shouldn’t be left out of the second round of realignment.

Spot-on and well written. The article is right. It was hardly a dominant performance. The score was OK, but the article caught the vibe of the game pretty well.

For everyone complaining about our game, Cincy was tied with Murray State 7-7 at half, and that doesnt seem to have caused the Big12 to revoke their invite. Its not a stretch to believe that UNT is better than Murray State. Cincy went on to win 42-7, and we won 35-12. Should have been 42-12 if not for Danny's wide open drop on 4th down.

We are UNTs super bowl, and I can almost guarantee you that Phil Bennet spent an absurd amount of time preparing for this game. They showed up ready to play and hung with us until we made some changes and dominated in the second half. Anyone remember what the headlines used to say when we would stick with Baylor or TCU for a half, only to get blown out in the second half? I don't think anyone saw that as an indictment of Baylor/TCUs programs.

We need to WIN, and WIN more. Beat people like tcwho, Cinci, UCF, Coogs and a brand name in a bowl game like a penn st., ohio, clemson.
That is what it is going to take.

Cut the DC guy some slack. He has not been around long enough to know that these kind of games have happened every season for SMU. Difference is that we had a bad game and won by 3 TDs. In the past, we would have lost this sort of game.

Great point. It wasn't that long ago that we would kill to win by that margin on a good night, or to play poorly and win at all. To win by 3 touchdowns when we didn't play well underscores the upward trajectory of the program.

I'm 100% behind the writer. It's a good critique and only those who still suffer from the abuse of the old days needs to move on. We need to be critical when we play like crap. NTCC is not a good team and our offense defeated itself in the first half. The defense, while I'm thrilled held, still hasn't been tested and won't until TCU.

Unlike Cincy who already did the work both in football and basketball, can afford slow starts. If we want the Big12 to know us more and get our fans energized (which is like getting the nursing home riled up), we need to win big and look Top 25.
