Sonny, yesterday our Pony life was filled with rain
Sonny, you smiled at us and really eased the pain
Now the dark days are done, and the bright days are here
My Sonny one shines so sincere
Sonny one so true, I love you
Bobby Hebb 1966 (Sunny)
This song is now a tradition around our ponyfan household after every win.
I would love to hear the SMU band version someday soon.

Did not realize how far down on this list Sonny is. Need to expand the Circle of Champions to move him up. Big difference not having P5 money to work with. Sonny, Jamey Chadwell at Coastal Carolina and Jeff Traylor at UTSA among the most underpaid while Patterson might be the most overpaid right now.

shocking- if this is correct then he is paid less than 8 of our other conference members, and even less than the coach at the denton community school. Very sad. Do we no longer have the Circle of Champions? or did little rickey get rid of them as well as a lot of fans?
Is this less than the charlatan we have as a bball coach? if so how very sad.

There's good reason to not trust USA today. They don't even mention private colleges generally withhold that information. They put a disclosure that says something to the effect that Universities have to publish non-school income and they're using that in their assumptions. June was getting around $2.2MM. I expect Sonny's original contract was around $1.5MM to 2.0MM given he was an analyst at the time. However SMU reported we gave an extension in late 2019 that remains concealed.
https://smumustangs.com/news/2019/12/20/football-dykes-signs-contract-extension-with-smu.aspxMy expectations he's making between $2.5MM - $3.0MM.

don't be surprised if Sonny leaves at the end of the season. I seriously doubt if he wants to coach in a sunbelt quality conference and that is what aresco (and little rickey) are apparently creating.

Depends on whether he wants to go through the P5 ringer again but yeah this news sucks and no amount of money will keep him here to play with likes of NTCC. Our only hope is he doesn't want to uproot his family and likes living here with never having to look over his shoulder.
