I am pretty sure that SMU has put more players into the NFL than TCU over the last 5 years or so including players Dikes/Samples did not recruit. So TCU has had the upper hand on recruiting since they got in to the Big 12, but we still managed to get some great kids that our coaches coached up. It can be done with hard work and keeping the Born and Raised & Dallas' team promotion going. IMHO.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

TCU consistently won under Patterson with mediocre recruiting. That’s what was impressive about the job he did. Going back to the point about “DFW’s Big 12 Team,” if they really wanted to drive that point home, they’d say “DFW’s only Power 5 Program.” Regardless, Dykes and team are now the enemy. May they fail miserably.

Combo of distance from DFW, apathy for the end of the season, and cold weather destination will be pretty disastrous for SMU fan attendance

SMU apathy period. SMU always seeks the excuse not to attend. SMU is great at negatives. A gung-ho fan base is not a part of the Mustang DNA. In regard to PAC12 marketing: I think there is an old slide presentation in the storeroom that June Jones put together just for an occasion like this.

Get real. The only Pac 12 team we are in any way related to is Stanford. And we are nowhere close to being as good as Stanford in any respect. The last time SMU football won a conference championship was in 1984. The last time SMU basketball won a conference championship was in 2017, which coincidentally was the last time we finished the season in the AP top 25.

SMU belongs in the Big 12. Bob Bowlsby won't be Big 12 commissioner forever. In the future they may add 2 to 4 teams. We should be one of those teams. And we need to be ready.

I suspect that outside of Tokyo, this may be the worst attended SMU bowl game in the history of the program. I hope all of the northeast ponies show up - but how many people do you see at those alumni receptions up there? Not many. Not enough to fill a section at Fenway.

I agree. Went to the Cincinnati game and it was super cheap flight. Right now Boston flights are 650 or so round trip.
