Read an article on TT site that was 90% Art Briles. A past football player millionaire on the search committee was calling him a winner. Lubbock is a tough place to recruit but you never know.

The other 10% was about Spike Dykes and how his son Sonny could be sold to the West Texas fan base.

I think Sonny and family like it here.

#Breaking: No interviews have taken place, but hearing reports that Art Briles has been contacted by Texas Tech and if the board and donors approve, he would accept the job. Interesting reports after the strides being taken to lock down Jeff Traylor.

Maybe Tech wanted to help both Sonny and Traylor out with their extensions and they were always going for Briles which would make sense why they did this mid season. Could be a saving grace for us if the whole 7 year extension thing is true given that would prevent poachers.

I wish Turner and Hart would leave for Tech.

Fox reported that Patterson could be let go at the end of this year and Sonny would be on their short list to hire

I stated this earlier as my most feared move that could be made on Sonny. He could continue his life as is, still have the DFW “come home” push, and be P5 with higher pay.

Even if Sonny would consider it - and I think it’s fair to say that he did his homework here recently - I doubt very seriously that Patterson’s job is in jeopardy.

Sonny to leave for Tech?

It all depends if Dykes wants to coach a real major college football at a real major college in a real major college football conference. If he does, he's history - and soon. If not, he can coach SMU in perpetuity.

Not sure I agree. SMU has been on the target list for expansion. Sonny could enjoy the ice cold seat and if he needs references he can ask Jank. I think Sonny can easily win in the new AAC (until something changes) and get into the new CFP playoffs.

Well Sonny's stock had to have tanked harder than dogecoin when Elon musk didn't back it in the SNL skit...

I believe the next Tech coach will not be Sonny...but not because of a kickoff return in Houston.

I think it might be 1-Trayor, 2- baby Briles, 3-cumby and 4- Holgerson. Maybe we can offer them a special teams coach to not hire SD. :)
