Word on the street is that the tcu offer for Sonny is $4.75 mil plus incentives for 5 years - money for our offer to Sonny of $4.1 mil was for 7 years plus additional money for coaches which would be paid by our big money boosters

Practice and rank us like a G5 and we will always be a G5!

The whole gang should go if any of these is true:

We could and should have made an offer in March

Coaches don't want to work for Hart

Coaches don't trust Turner

We really are content to stay in the AAC

We only gave lip service to joining the Big 12

I only hope if Sonny leaves, he tells us why, and I doubt it is money.

Regarding Houston, they have an outstanding President, one that has a vision for U of H and is fulfilling it! Having a lead donor is important, but having a President that understands that football is the "front porch of the house" as Orsini once said, "no one lives there, but it makes whole house more valuable."

That last paragraph is so important. Cincinnati is being talked about all over the country because of football! How dumb are you if you don’t see that connection?

and we have some who claim RGT was promoting our fball and bball programs and making them a priority over 20 yrs. ago.
don't know what they are smoking but is it probably not legal (at least in most states).

So we offered slightly less than $5 Million more than TCU on a total contract basis guaranteed. If he goes to the Frogs there has to be something up his craw besides the money.

Obviously. Does anybody else wonder why JJ bailed so early, CM bailed even earlier and now SD wanting to bail. IMO Something doesn't add up.

It is not just money - P5 versus G5. That is why we need to get the call up to P5. We are in a good position for that to happen if we just keep winning! I think it happens in the next 2 to 3 years. The importance is why this coaching search is so important.

It's more complicated than that. It's more Thant just the money for the head coach. Its facilities, staff salaries, support to keep student-athletes eligible and graduating. Now NIL, etc.

Not really that complicated - with P-5 comes a lot of money. As far as facilities, we need to "beef up" the stadium so it seats at least 40,000. I am sure we will move forward with the stadium plan - probably at a little slower pace. Do not look at the glass half empty - fill her to the top!

They haven't become as complacent, they always were complacent.

tristatecoog wrote:Houston had one guy driving the bus (Tilman Fertitta). In his third year, many fans wanted to fire Dana after the Tech loss and spotty QB play. It takes patience. Pony fans have been patient.

The main guy driving SMU hoops (David Miller) didn't seem to want Jank fired last year. Maybe the buyout was too much, Covid excuses for attendance and there were good recruiting prospects. Now, well...

After UH pledged to pay P5 money to Herman, we ended up "going down the hall" and hired Applewhite for his strong Texas ties and many OC stops. Two years later, the Coogs lost to Army in the AF Bowl by like 70-14. An unfathomable loss sort of like Texas losing at Kansas in Strong's last year.

Rhett seems quite strong. He was highly thought of when Sonny picked him up and he recruited (?) and developed Shane which led to Tanner coming. Wasn't TM running second string at OU ahead of Chandler? If so, it shows that recruits will pick Dallas and SMU over TCU in the right circumstances. Rhett wouldn't be a down the hall type hire. The only issue is that he could leave for Arkansas someday but oh well, hope he'd be good enough to be the Hogs top choice when that time comes.

David Miller wanted jank fired last year. Absolutely! He just didn't want to fight Hart over it too much until he became the BoT chair, which happens in early 2022.

Hard to summarize it any better or more accurately than this. Kudos, Mex.

As we have suspected, Hart is the problem.
