Only listened to the first 20 minutes. Very interesting. Speaks highly of
SMU. Such a class act. Will listen to the rest soon but thought I should
post. Will also be purchasing his forthcoming book.

Eric said in this interview that he felt he needed to write this book now as he realizes he is losing his memory and wanted to document things while he can still remember. Doesn't want to blame it on CTE or football but is well aware of the toll the game has taken on his body.

Saw him at a Sealy HS football game several years ago. Said hello and talked about Coach Meyer for a few minutes prior to the Navasota-Sealy match.

A guy that DOES love SMU, and hopefully will have a chance to get his story in front of folks who may not remember the Pony Express days. He overcame a TON of stuff growing up, and his his brief interview in Thad's documentary is just a hint of the story.

Good for him, and God bless.

Eric will be appearing tomorrow night at the Texas Theater in Oak Cliff. Tickets are 10
dollars. Book signing and interview followed by a Q and A.

I cannot attend but encourage all SMU alums that currently reside in the Metroplex
to make an effort if they are interested.

I always wanted ED to win a Heisman, but what a year for voting

Herschel Walker 1st, John Elway 2nd, Eric Dickerson 3rd

IMO, Eric’s college career certainly surpassed Elway’s.

Just looked up the stats

Herschel 335 attempts / 1,752 yards / 16 TDs

Eric 232 attempts / 1,617 yards / 17 TDs

Considering Craig James had almost 1,146 yards from scrimmage and 7 TDs - I am kind of surprised that Dickerson's yards per play did not impact voters. Dickerson finished third and it wasnt even close.

Of course the voters were probably considering the previous season when Walker lost with even better stats (Marcus Allen won that year).

Thanks for posting this link. Can't wait to read the book. Eric comes across as a genuinely nice and funny person. Class act all the way. Wish he could spend more time in Dallas.

ED only started half the number of games that Walker did, and still his numbers were comparable. He also got hosed since we were on probation in 1981 and couldn't play on television or go to the Cotton Bowl when we won the conference title. Lack of television coverage the prior year kept him from being seen by the eastern writers/voters.
